The inspiration for this colour is taken from nature and evokes relaxation of the body and mind, a place to go and recharge our batteries in our busy day to day lives, reduce stress and take a moment to appreciate what we have. This colour is so versatile that it can be used in any design style from traditional to contemporary, cultural to coastal and in any room in the house! It’s the perfect colour for starting over in the new year, especially if you want to give your home a little make over with minimal effort. If you feel you need to spruce up your home a bit and give a refreshing look, then this is the colour for you.

Painting your entry way or hallway is the perfect way to make you relax and feel calm as soon as you walk through your front door. You can paint all four walls and the ceiling to really encase yourself with tranquility.

The kitchen is probably the busiest and most stressful room in the home and adding a pale, neutral shade of blue can really help tone those stress levels down and create a healthy and happy cooking environment. Apply a coat of paint to the walls or for a different look and if you have solid wood cabinetry, paint your kitchen cabinets or island. Adding natural wood for the counter top really helps this trend follow through in being mindful of the environment, being sustainable and adding to the calming atmosphere. The same processes can be applied to you bathroom to create a spa-like experience.

Give your dining room a serene feeling by painting the walls, ceilings or window frames. This will help make the space feel welcoming and perfect for entertaining guests at dinner parties. For a more mature or masculine scheme, you could paint any architectural detailing you have such as panelling or coving in a darker colour, which gives the room a more sophisticated touch.

As well as In The Moment, Behr have also predicted 19 other colours they feel will be on trend this year. All of these colours effortlessly work together when placed together in a colour palette with In The Moment. Using one of these colours together with In The Moment can create more dynamic, contrasting spaces, so you can be as fun or as calm as you want depending on what colours you put together.
What do you think of these colours? Do you think there’s too much, or not enough? What do you think of Behr’s choice for their colour of the year?
I hope this has helped give you some ideas of what you can do to help update and spruce up your interiors in to a safe haven from the outside busy world.
